and more lonely than ever.
Coffee shops. College campuses. Airports. Gyms.
We're physically surrounded by people — and completely invisible to each other.
Not because people don't want to connect. Because nobody knows how to start.
Fear of rejection. Fear of awkwardness. Fear of misreading the room.
So we scroll instead. And the moment passes.
The truth is, most people want to connect.
They're just terrified of getting it wrong.
That fear has become the default. And somewhere along the way, we stopped trying.
Wear the band
Slim, minimal, fashionable. Looks like a premium wearable — not a gadget.
Set your status
One tap sets your LED color. Green means open. Red means don't. Everything in between is yours to choose.
The uncertainty disappears
Now the people around you know your intent — without a word. No guessing. No rejection spiral. Just clarity.
Real connection follows
The companion app helps you reconnect with people you met and exchange contact info — no awkward phone fumble.
I started building Status Bands because I noticed something strange.
We've never been more connected digitally. Yet many people feel more disconnected in real life than ever before.
Every day people miss potential friendships, relationships, networking opportunities, and meaningful conversations — because nobody knows if interaction is welcome.
Status Bands was created to remove that uncertainty.
We're still early. We're still building. But if enough people believe in this idea, we think we can help bring real-world connection back.
This is our current prototype.
The goal isn't to create another social media platform. The goal is to create a simple wearable system that makes social intent visible.
A small signal that helps people know when interaction is welcome — and when it isn't.
Every version gets us one step closer to real-world testing and our Fall 2026 pilot at University of Nevada Reno.
We're not just building a product. We're building this with the people who believe in the mission.
Elena's at the gym. Headphones in. Focused. She sets her status to Red.
Someone walks her way — sees the signal — and stops. No shoulder tap. No awkwardness. No uncomfortable moment.
Status Bands doesn't just help people connect. It helps people protect their space too.
Consent built into the wrist. Respect without a word.
If you've ever felt like the world got a little too disconnected — you're not alone. A lot of us feel it. We're building something to help change that.
